Episode 11: Dreams Made Visible
In this episode, Rebecca speaks with Agni Kapuscinska, a live art performance artist whose work moves between performance, video, photography, ritual, dream, landscape, and visual poetry.
The conversation focuses on Agni’s body of work My Soul Speaks Through My Dreams, which was created through outdoor performances in the Peloponnese in Greece, and developed into photographic images, public performances, and video art. For Agni, the work began with place. Walking through the landscape, listening to the land, observing the elements, and allowing herself to become quiet enough to receive what was already there became part of the creative process itself.
Dreams are also central to Agni’s practice. Influenced by Jung’s Red Book, she speaks about dreams as a language of the soul, and describes her work as an attempt to translate inner images, symbols, and messages into visible form. In this sense, her performances are not simply made in nature, but emerge through a relationship with nature, the body, the imagination, and the unseen.
A powerful thread running through the episode is Agni’s long-standing relationship with bones. She speaks about finding bones during walks, cleaning and preparing them slowly, and working with them as objects of beauty, ancestry, death, transformation, and energetic presence. Bones, in her work, are not treated as morbid or decorative materials, but as carriers of essence, memory, and symbolic force.
Rebecca and Agni also discuss creativity as a vital part of wellbeing. Agni reflects on the importance of creative expression as a way of giving form to the inner life, and suggests that creativity is not only for artists, but belongs to all human beings as part of what helps us feel alive, connected, and spiritually nourished.
The episode also explores Agni’s interest in the story of Saint Theodora of Vasta, whose body, according to legend, became river, trees, and temple. It is a story that resonates deeply with many of the themes in Agni’s work: sacrifice, transformation, embodiment, spirituality, and the possibility of becoming part of the land.

Bio
Born in Wrocław, Poland, currently living in the UK.
She studied at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Wrocław at the puppetry department, leaving before graduation in search of a different understanding of theatrical expression.
She found it in Butoh Ankoku: Japanese Dance Theatre.
She spent two years studying with Butoh artists. She was invited to Japan, where she performed at the New Butoh Work Festival. After returning from Japan, she graduated from Goldsmiths College ,University of London at the Faculty of Performing Arts.
In 2018, she completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Art & Therapy and Education in London,UK.
For the past 20 years, Agni has been working in Europe and the UK on her Live Art projects, creating works with a strong visual aspect that she describes as poetry in motion, mainly based on original material.
