Episode 3: It's nearly time... Therapeutic Landscapes II: Ritual, Folklore and Wellbeing

We are now under a month away from Therapeutic Landscapes II: Ritual, Folklore and Wellbeing, and the programme is ready, and speakers are preparing!

In this episode, we walk through the 2026 programme and highlight the panels, themes, workshops, performances, and conversations that are coming together across the two days.

This year’s symposium brings together artists, academics, folklorists, practitioners, researchers, makers, performers, community workers, and those working at the edges of place, ritual, creativity, health, landscape, and memory. Across the programme, we will be exploring how ritual, folklore, and creative practice can support connection, belonging, recovery, imagination, and care.

The episode offers a flavour of the rich themes running through the event, including re-enchanted landscapes, experimental archaeologies, pilgrimage, procession, folk artefacts, haunted landscapes, magical material practice, plants and places, community-making, creative chaos, and the therapeutic potential of ordinary places.

There’s a real sense that this gathering will be more than a series of formal presentations. It feels like a meeting place for ideas, stories, practices, and disciplines that don’t always find themselves in the same room, yet have so much to say to one another.

This episode asks:

What happens when we take ritual seriously as a form of knowledge?

What becomes possible when folklore is understood as living, circulating, communal meaning?

How might wellbeing be reimagined when it’s rooted in land, story, body, memory, creativity, and shared practice?

Whether you’re joining us in June, curious about the wider field of therapeutic landscapes, or simply interested in the relationship between place, culture, ritual, and wellbeing, this episode offers an overview of the gathering and the conversations beginning to unfold.

Therapeutic Landscapes II: Ritual, Folklore and Wellbeing takes place on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th June 2026.

Listen to the episode, explore the programme, and begin gathering your questions, curiosities, and connections.
